Information For Referring Veterinarians
New Zealand Veterinary Dentistry aims to establish close working relationships with referring veterinarians and veterinary clinics in order to provide the most optimal service and standard of care for their patients. We also provide case help and assistance whenever this is needed, whether it is through interpretation of dental radiographs, advice where needed, or in-depth clinical case assessments.

How to Refer a Case To New Zealand Veterinary Dentistry
New Zealand Veterinary Dentistry operates out of multiple locations in the Waikato - currently based from clinics in Cambridge, Hamilton, and Ngaruawahia. We are open to forming relationships with other like-minded host or referring clinics based on caseload, support, location and company ethos. Please contact Dr. Crystal Loh directly to determine if we will be able to provide services within your clinic.
If you are veterinarian and wish to refer a case, please contact us directly at referrals@nzvetdentistry.com and submit a referral form by clicking the link below, along with any relevant clinical history, radiographs, clinical photographs or documents pertinent to the animal's medical history.
NZVD will communicate directly with referring clinics regarding the case, and will contact referred clients directly to organise consultation and surgery at one of the clinic locations where the service operates from.
Following consultation and surgery, NZVD will forward all pertinent clinical history to the referring clinic along with instructions for post-operative and long-term follow up. NZVD is open to discussions regarding on-going case management with referring veterinarians in order to obtain the best long-term outcomes for the patient.
Dental Radiograph Interpretation & Case Assistance
New Zealand Veterinary Dentistry offers a dental radiography film reading service to referring clinics. In these circumstances, please submit the dental radiography film interpretation form and all relevant clinical history, any clinical photographs and radiographs to referrals@nzvetdentistry.com and a full report regarding diagnosable pathology and potential treatment options will be discussed.
Many clinics find this service useful as this allows clinicians the opportunity to learn and recognise dental pathology for the future, make informed treatment recommendations to their clients, as well as have a tangible supplementary medical report that may assist decision making for future treatments.
The cost of dental radiograph interpretation is dependent on the number and quality of dental radiographs taken, as well as the time taken to assess the films. In general, costs are as follows (but will be assessed on a case by case basis):
Full mouth radiograph series interpretation (>12 radiographs) - $210 (GST inclusive)
Partial mouth radiograph series (<12 radiographs) - $120 (GST inclusive)
Case assistance and advice for single radiographs or straightforward cases will not incur any charge.
A note to clinics - if radiographs can be oriented appropriately this would be much appreciated.
This means: maxillary tooth crowns oriented downwards, mandibular tooth crowns oriented upwards, as a general rule.
Please do not flip images horizontally or vertically, and if the image has been flipped please note this down as that will impact how the images are interpreted. If an image has been taken intraorally rather than extraorally then this also needs to be documented.

In-Clinic Dental Training
Dr. Crystal is very passionate about sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for veterinary dentistry. One of the best ways she is able to do this is by teaching fellow veterinarians and veterinary nurses within their own clinic, using their own instruments and equipments to gain further familiarity with the tools at their fingertips. This way any improvements can be made directly on-site, and clinicians can grow their confidence within their own home environment.
